Boys Lacrosse growing as the season progresses

Friday, May 3, 2013

Newington boys finding way in CCC West: In his second season as the Newington boys coach, Kyle Bowler is trying to make things a little tougher on his players. Bowler says he is trying to instill more discipline, something Newington will need now that it has made the switch from the CCC East to the West, which is a tougher division. The top four teams, Glastonbury, Simsbury, Conard and Hall, are a combined 26-10 overalll.

Newington (4-6, 0-3 in the division) has battled through injuries and close losses, but Bowler feels the switch will strengthen his team moving forward.

"In the long term, the kids get to see good lacrosse all the time," said Bowler. "That's what it is all about, getting the kids excited heading into the offseason."

The Indians are coming off a 7-6 overtime victory against Farmington on Tuesday, and still have CCC West matchups with Windsor, South Windsor, Hall and Southington.
